About Us

Beatrix & Brown is an independent bookshop for children and fun grown-ups, named for pioneering children's authors Beatrix Potter and Margaret Wise Brown. 

Started in 2026 by Kari Ferguson, Beatrix & Brown aims to be a welcoming place for Southfields to discover new favourites, revisit much-loved classics and share the joy of a really good book! We have new and old favourites from around the world, including a wide range of classic American children's books. 

The shop is organised by topic, with each bookshelf featuring books relating to a specific theme, such as "Familiar Stories," "Journeys & Adventures," "Make Believe" or "Growing Up." Each shelf has grown-up books on the top shelf and ends with baby books on the bottom shelf, making the entire shop more or less organised by "height" as well as topic!
